Colorado Measures of Academic Success: PARCC English Language Arts & Math

In compliance with legislation, Colorado joined the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career (PARCC) consortia as a governing member in August, 2012. PARCC is a multi-state assessment consortium that is developing shared English language arts (ELA)/Literacy and Mathematics assessments. The assessments are based on the learning standards contained in the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for grades 3-8 and high school.  As a governing member, Colorado is committed to relying on the PARCC assessment system. CMAS: PARCC has ELA/Literacy assessments in grades 3-9 and Mathematics assessments in grades 3-9.  In 2015-16, the assessment will be given during one window.

All public school students enrolled in Colorado are required by state law to take a standards-based summative assessment each year in the specified content areas and grade levels.  Students in grades 3 through 9 will take the CMAS: PARCC ELA/Literacy and Math assessments  Students are required to be tested at the grade level in which they are enrolled by the district.  A very small number of students with significant cognitive disabilities may take an Alternate Assessment (CoAlt: Dynamic Learning Maps).
