Secondary Education/Career and Technical

The Department of Secondary Education/Career and Technical is responsible for grades 6 through 12. Under the guide of the Strategic Plan, the current initiatives we are focused on are curriculum alignment in mathematics, language arts, science, social studies, world language, vocal music and art. We are also focusing on the development of a kindergarten through 12th grade curriculum that provides for exploration, awareness and application of career education.

The vision of secondary education is to make sure that all those who enter as sixth graders and then transition to their freshman year graduate with the skills and knowledge needed to attend college without remediation. Throughout their years, students will have an opportunity to pursue, at their own choice, programs preparing them for a college or a demanding technical and professional program supporting their high school diploma. We envision students earning college credits and/or entry level technical skills along with the general knowledge needed to be successful in a world economy.
