How to Enroll: Kindergarten to 12th Grade

      New student registration for the 2018- 2019 school year is now open.
Thank you for choosing Pueblo City Schools to enroll your child.  Each of our schools has a distinct personality and offers something unique for its students.  Enrollment is easy and your child will be placed at their neighborhood school based on their home address.  For transportation questions, contact Student Transportation of America (STA) at 719-549-7217.

2018-19 School Year
How to Register your New Student in Pueblo City Schools

During the school year, complete the following steps:

Determine your child's eligibility
  • Children entering kindergarten must be five-years-old on or before October 1 of each year.
  • Children entering first grade must be six-years-old on or before October 1 of each year.
  • Children Preschool ages three-years-old or four-years-old on or before October 1 of each year.
  • Children under the age of 21 on the first day of school are eligible for enrollment.
  • Children who are not a U.S. citizen and 
    • have not attended a U.S. school continuously for the past two years, OR
    • are U.S. citizens who have attended a non-U.S. school overseas,               are eligible for enrollment with an official valid birth certificate and Immunizations from their birth country.                                                      For eligibility questions, please contact the Student Registration Line.
Locate your Neighborhood School
Based on your home address, Click on the Attendance Areas/Boundaries Maps and select the Grade Level Map for your child to determine your Neighborhood school.

    Other enrollment options available in the district:   
School Choice:

          If you would like to apply to attend a school other than your neighborhood school,             the School Choice window for the 2019-2020 school year will open in January 2019.

       Charter Schools:
          Charter schools are application-based schools. Contact the schools directly for                  further application information for:
    PSAS (K-8) - Pueblo School for Arts and Science:
                       Jones Campus
(K-8) and Fulton Heights Campus (K-5)
    CHPA - Chavez/Huerta Preparatory Academy (K-12)

Preschool 3 and 4-year-old programs are application-based programs. Please contact the Preschool Department at (719) 253-6016, or visit this link for further information.

Registering your child
Once you have determined your neighborhood school, go to one of the following locations:
  • For Registration during July, go to these Summer Registration Locations for:
    • High School Registration: for 9th to 12th-grade children
      Go directly to the High School: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.     Please contact the high school first to make sure the staff will be available when you arrive.

      Kindergarten through 8th-grade children:
      Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
      July 10 to July 26
      10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • For Registration during the School year - go directly to your neighborhood school, beginning August 13, 2018, Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., avoiding the lunch hour if possible, to meet with the secretary.

Take the following documents to register your child:

Parent/Guardians will be asked to provide the following documents:
  • Identification - Parent/Guardian Driver's license or one of the following documents:  Passport, Permanent resident alien card, Naturalization papers, Birth certificate.
  • Proof of Residency documents - Verified by one of the following:
    • Homeowners: a copy of your current mortgage statement or property tax bill
    • Renters: a copy of your current lease agreement
    • Shared Housing Residents: If you are living in a shared housing situation, contact the school for the documentation process. 
  • Guardianship or Court Orders (as necessary)
 Child's Documents: copies are acceptable
  • Official State Birth Certificate - Hospital Certificate will not be accepted
  • Immunization "Shot" Records - Must be current
    • Colorado state law requires:
      • All students enrolling in Colorado schools to furnish a CURRENT Certificate of Immunization
      • Immunization Exemptions form for medical reasons
      • Immunization Exemptions form for personal or religious reasons that must be provided to the school every year
  • Last school attended: School Name and Contact Information: Complete address, phone, fax, and email address.
  • Last school Report Card (if possible) or Out of District HS Transcript (for HS scheduling)

Please inform the school if your child has an individualized learning plan (IEP, ILP, 504, RTI) or other special education program needs, any
medical needs or in a temporary shared residency situation.
