Summer Food Program Feeds Kids For Free

With summer right around the corner, it’s time to think about keeping children healthy while school is out. Pueblo City Schools provides free meals to children during the summer. This summer, meals will be served at the locations listed below. There are no income requirements or registration. Any child 18 and under may come to eat. Adults are welcome to purchase a meal for $3.50. For more information, contact Jill Kidd, Director of Nutrition Services, 719-549-7203.

June 12 through July 28 Monday - Friday
  • Central High School: 216 E. Orman Ave. — 11:00-12:30
  • Risley International Academy of Innovation:  625 Monument Ave — 11:00-12:30
  • Franklin Elementary: 1315 Horseshoe Dr. — 11:30-12:30
  • Heroes Academy: 715 W. 20th St. — 11:30-12:30
  • Minnequa Elementary: 1708 E. Orman Ave. — 11:30-12:30
Mobile Site Locations

  • Sangre de Cristo Apartments: 2619 Crawford St. — 11:00-11:30
  • Rawlings Library: 100 E. Abriendo — 11:45-12:15
  • Lamb Library: 2525 S. Pueblo Blvd. — 12:30-1:00

Monday and Tuesday: Bessemer Park — 11:30-12:00 M-T
Wednesday and Thursday: Fairmount Park — 11:30-12:00 W-Thursday

Free Farmers Market
Care and Share and Pueblo City Schools will partner to offer a free Farmers Market Style Pantry 2 Thursdays each month from 11:30 – 12:45 throughout the summer at Risley Middle School. There is no need to register for the pantry.

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with Pueblo City Schools to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer. For more information about the national Summer Food Service Program, visit http://www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/summer.
