BACK TO SCHOOL
The start of every school year energizes me, this year even more so as your Pueblo City Schools, a designated Colorado “High-Performing” district, continues to implement our 2007 Strategic Plan. The plan, created by the community, clearly outlines what we as a school district and community need and will do to ensure our students receive a world class education for success in a global society.
My commitment to you as parents and taxpayers is your children will receive a world-class education. We are strengthening our schools so your children will be inspired to learn, to understand and to grow into skillful and thoughtful citizens who are equipped to play vital roles in the ongoing development and enrichment of Pueblo and beyond.
Student achievement is paramount, and our pledge is we will align our resources so that every child achieves his or her highest level of potential as measured against state, national and international standards of academic performance.
As we begin a new and exciting school year I need to make several important points, not only for our prospective and current parents, but for our community as a whole. This is not only a new year, but a new era for Pueblo City Schools. Our strategic plan holds us accountable to achieve world-class accomplishments. We are a transparent, professional school district.
Our expectation for students is they will reach their full potential and make appropriate decisions about the life they want to lead. Our goal is every student that comes through our doors will walk out with a diploma and a pathway to success.
It is imperative that parents be fully involved in the education of their children. I know it is hard for working parents, but I implore you to find the time, every day, to help your children finish school assignments, to read, and to take responsibility for learning. Most of all, I ask parents to love and to praise your child’s accomplishments and teach them the joy in learning and growing.
We need you to be actively involved, to stay informed and ask the tough questions. We will work to earn your trust, and as we do we ask that you support, be it through volunteering, participating in committees or financial, your Pueblo City Schools.
This will be a challenging, productive and positive year for everyone involved with Pueblo City Schools. Together as staff, students, parents, and community we will reach our vision for our children.
Thank you for allowing us to educate your children, and thank you for supporting Pueblo City Schools.
Sincerely,
Kathy J. West
Interim Superintendent
