BACK TO SCHOOL
School Meals
Each school day, nearly 11,000 Pueblo City Schools' students eat lunch and 8,500 students eat breakfast made possible by the district’s Nutrition Services Department.
Elementary school students may choose from four menu choices, including student favorites like chicken nuggets, bean burritos with green chili, chef salads, sandwiches, and yogurt. Middle and high schools students enjoy up to 10 menu choices daily, including a variety of Mexican foods, subs, salads, pizza and the traditional meals from the World Cafe. All meals include a selection of six servings of fruits, vegetables and one percent milk or skim.
Free and reduced-priced breakfasts and lunches are available to students who qualify based on federal income guidelines. Applications for Free/Reduced price meal benefits will be sent home with each Pueblo City Schools student on the first day of school.
Children attending one of the below listed schools will be served breakfast and lunch at no charge. Applications, to be distributed, will be used to determine eligibility for funding for the next five years. It is important for families to submit a completed application for meal benefits. Families may pick-up application forms at each school main office. The information provided on the application is confidential and will be used only for the purpose of determining eligibility and verifying data. Applications from families receiving supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) need only to list the children’s names, respective SNAP case number and the signature of an adult household member.
All other households who would qualify based upon income must show the names of all house-hold members related or not (such as grandparents, other relatives or friends), and the amount of gross income each person received the previous month and source. Additionally required is the signature of an adult household member and that adult’s social security number (additional information may be required). The information on the application may be verified by the school or other program officials at any time during the school year.
In certain cases, foster children are also eligible for these benefits. If a family has foster children living with them and wishes to apply for meals, they should fill out a separate application for each foster child. The Pueblo City Schools Nutrition Office will review applications and determine eligibility. If a parent/guardian is dissatisfied with the decision, an appeal may be made either orally or in writing to:
