Background Information:
In 2008 Pueblo City Schools will open the Fountain (elementary) and Corwin (middle) international magnet schools. These schools, along with the expansion of the International Baccalaureate program at
Magnet programs offer focused curriculums, with an emphasis in integrated technology, math, science, arts, foreign languages and the humanities. Students from kindergarten to 12th grade are challenged with a global education with a heavy emphasis on inquiry-based learning. Among the reasons magnet schools are popular and successful are as follows:
- Promote diversity within our schools
- Expand educational choices for students
- Set high expectations for all students to improve student achievement
- Prepare students for further education and the world of work
